Bio
I received my high school diploma from Cook High School in 1978 then immediately enrolled at Valdosta State College. Earning a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with emphasis in middle grades math and ELA, I began to teach at Cook Middle School in August, 1981. I taught mathematics for 33 years at CMS in grades sixth, seventh and eighth grades, as well as teaching reading and Social Studies when assigned to a three-man team. I returned to Valdosta State University to earn a masters and Specialist degree in middle grades education. I earned National Board certification in Teaching Early Adolescents Mathematics and achieved the recognition of Georgia Master Teacher. I was selected the Teacher of the Year for CMS three times and was selected Teacher of the Year for Cook County two times. I am currently the instructional coach in which I work with beginning teachers but assist any teacher that needs assistance. I enjoy visiting classrooms and getting to know the students and many times you will find me working with a student or working with small groups of students.
